BRUSSELS (AP) – President Vladimir Putin’s threat to have “unfriendly” countries pay for Russian natural gas exports only in rubles from now on got the not-so-friendly treatment from European Union nations Thursday.
Vladimir Putin demanded “unfriendly” countries buy gas in rubles rather than dollars or euros in an attack against US global hegemony.
Compared with a year ago, Russia’s Treasury holdings have contracted by 54 percent. Most of that decline came in the last few months.
