TV host Dr. Phil said on Wednesday that Kanye West’s recent comments about slavery being a “choice” have “empowered hate groups” and “white supremacists.”

During a Tuesday interview with TMZ, Kanye West said, “When you hear about slavery for 400 years. For 400 years?! That sounds like a choice.” The blowback was immediate and Kanye is now trying to explain himself to those only interested in destroying him, even if it is with a “gotcha.”

Kanye West said, “I believe that Kim Jong-Un didn’t believe that Obama was crazy enough to come at him,” West said. “Sometimes you need some crazy [bleep] to change something.”

“Black people have a tendency to focus and march when a white person kills a black person or wears a hat, but when it’s 700 kids being killed in Chicago it’s O.K.,” West said during an interview with TMZ’s Harvey Levin on Tuesday.
