Fed Fights the Wind
The Federal Reserve’s attempt to tighten financial conditions has been increasingly embattled by the market’s view of where economic and financial conditions will be.
This week, however, things went the other way. Financial conditions got a great deal tighter even as the banking sector appeared to seize up.
So the Fed’s decision is much more complicated: fight inflation or fight the banking recession?
