Shares of GameStop jumped higher after the opening bell Friday morning, rising by as much as 55 percent.
Shares were halted twice in the first hour of trading due to the extreme volatility.
By 10:20 a.m. shares had given up half their gains and were up around 25 percent.
They ended the day up nearly 20 percent.
