Tuesday on ESPN’s “High Noon,” co-host Bomani Jones slammed New York Mets minor league prospect Tim Tebow, saying the former Heisman winner “has no business” playing in AA.
Tebow, the left fielder for the Mets’ AA affiliate Binghamton Rumble Ponies, has hit .241 with four homers in 53 games this season at the age of 30, and Jones suggested Tebow should ask himself if he is a “sideshow.”
“Tim Tebow, I believe, is in his 30’s at this point and he’s not going to give it up. He’s not going to quit. He’s going to keep going. And I don’t blame him for that because he’s got an opportunity … he’s got no business playing baseball at this level and he has the chance to, so I don’t blame him. But, what he has to ask to himself, what are the Mets doing with me? Because if I’m at a level I’m not supposed to be at, and I’m still up here struggling and they’re not sending me down or anything like that, maybe, just maybe, you’re a sideshow,” said Jones.
