Booker: ‘I Was In Pain’ Listening to Franken’s Resignation – ‘He Was Right When He Talked About the Irony’

On Wednesday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “Andrea Mitchell Reports,” Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ), who has called on President Trump to resign, said he was “in pain” listening to Senator Al Franken’s (D-MN) resignation speech and Franken was correct to note the irony of him resigning while President Trump stays.

Booker stated that Franken “did the right thing” by resigning.

He later added, “[W]hen it comes to situations like the president of the United States, I mean, come on, there [is] clear and compelling evidence. There is the president himself speaking towards doing this behavior. There are numbers — over a dozen women that have come forward. And so, that’s why I have such — I was in pain the day — listening to Al Franken’s remarks. Because he was right when he talked about the irony of what he is, doing the right thing, and stepping down from his position voluntarily, and you have a president of the United States sitting there where there is a message being sent to Americans, to young men, to young women that the highest office in the land, a guy sitting there, can get away with doing this behavior. And I find that utterly unacceptable.”
