Thursday on CNN’s “New Day,” co-host Chris Cuomo took on Republican front-runner Donald Trump for his explanation that when he criticized his rival Carly Fiorina’s “face,” he was talking about her “persona.”
In the new Rolling Stone interview, Trump said of the former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina, “Look at that face!? Would anyone vote for that? Can you imagine that, the face of our next president?!”
Cuomo asked,”First it was Rosie and Megyn, now got Carly Fiorina. They got you in Rolling Stone magazine making fun of the way she looks. Why do you talk about the way women look so much? It’s not presidential.”
Trump defended himself by saying, “I’m not taking about looks I’m talking about persona.”
Cuomo replied, “You said look at that face.”
Trump continued, “The fact is that Carly Fiorina has had a terrible past. She was fired viciously from Hewlett-Packard. A highly-respected man wrote a paper that was one of the worst papers on CEO’s. She goes down as one of the worst ever. Thousands of jobs gone, stock prices that still haven’t recovered— it’s a total disaster but still hasn’t recovered. They are trying hard, but she was a disaster CEO.”
“So the statement on Carly, I’m talking about her persona. Her persona is that she’s not going to be president. She’s a terrible failed time,” he added.
