ESPN’s Ruocco to Sports Leagues: Boycott Indiana Until New ‘Religious Freedom’ Law Changed

During Friday’s broadcast of “The Herd” on ESPNU, guest co-host Ryan Ruocco reacted to Yahoo’s Dan Wetzel saying that the NCAA’s response to Indiana’s “Religious Freedom” law is “perfect.”

The new law allows businesses in Indiana to refuse service to homosexuals, but NCAA president Mark Emmert stated shortly after the bill was signed, “The NCAA national office and our members are deeply committed to providing an inclusive environment for all our events. We are especially concerned about how this legislation could affect our student-athletes and employees.”

According to Ruocco, the people in charge of sporting events should stay away from having their events in Indiana until the bill is changed.

“You shouldn’t go have your events there until that law is changed. Because you are having — you have a part of your clientele that is being told by businesses there, they’re not welcome and the government is sanctioning that. In those areas.”
