Patrick Howley, a top notch right-of-center investigative journalist, has joined Breitbart News after three years of working at The Daily Caller. Howley will, among other things, be Breitbart News’ lead reporter to cover the presidential campaign and scandals of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
“I am proud and honored to join Breitbart News for the most historic election of my lifetime,” Howley said. “When I first decided to take on the political class a handful of years ago, the idea that we could actually change the media and the country seemed like a pipe dream. Now, that achievement is right in front of our faces – and I intend on grabbing it. Thank you to the Breitbart team for giving me the ball at this pivotal American moment.”
A college dropout, Howley has constantly gone against the established ways of doing things in journalism. He started in the field at an alternative newspaper in the Midwest before getting his break in Washington as the assistant editor of the legendary “American Spectator” magazine. He went on to work as an original investigative reporter for The Washington Free Beacon during the 2012 election. For the last three years, Howley covered politics as a reporter for The Daily Caller, where he consistently broke national news on such stories as the IRS targeting scandal, the Jonathan Gruber scandal, the Department of Veterans Affairs scandal, and the Obama administration’s gun control efforts.
“Patrick is young, highly aggressive, and has broken a lot of significant stories already,” Breitbart News Editor-in-Chief Alex Marlow said. “He should fit in nicely.”
Breitbart News Network Executive Chairman Stephen K. Bannon added that he’s thrilled Howley has joined the team.
“Patrick is the type of reporter we have built the company around—smart, tough and aggressive,” Bannon said. “We are ecstatic about getting him immediately fully deployed.”
Breitbart News CEO Larry Solov also said that adding Howley to the team is part of an aggressive effort by Breitbart News to build a “best-in-class” news organization.
“Patrick is a welcome addition to our already best-in-class political reporting team, and we look forward to great things from him,” Solov said.
Howley, who appeared on Breitbart News Sunday with Bannon on Sirius XM Patriot Channel 125 on Sunday evening, begins immediately for Breitbart News starting on Monday.
