The Huffington Post announced Thursday that the left-wing outlet will not cover seriously any run Donald Trump might make for president. The announcement takes issue with Trump’s role as a celebrity (he hosts a popular NBC reality series, a bestselling author, and is a major force in real estate).
HuffPo is really angry that a person they see as a celebrity would run for high office. Ahem.
There have been a lot of stories in the news in recent days about reality television’s Donald Trump and his intentions to run for president in 2016. …
Let me assure you: We do not plan to take it even a little bit seriously.
We could, if we wanted to, go on at great length about the numerous reasons why nobody should take a Donald Trump campaign for president seriously. But you’d have to take it a little bit seriously to do so. We don’t, so we won’t.
Huffington Post is making a bid to be taken seriously as a legitimate worldwide news outlet. This is the kind of childish stuff that keeps the site marginalized and a money loser.
