The New York Times reports that former “Meet the Press” host David Gregory will move online to Yahoo for election night coverage. This is a one-time deal but it’s not unreasonable to assume it’s a testing of the waters for both Gregory and Yahoo. Gregory will be a guest analyst on Katie Couric’s online show. Joining him will be Politico’s Mike Allen and Grover Norquist.
After 20 years, Gregory left NBC News last month after losing his “Meet the Press” hosting duties to Chuck Todd. This will be Gregory’s first appearance since his ouster.
Couric landed at Yahoo after losing her anchor spot at the CBS Evening News and the imminent failure of her daily talk show.
Back In May, Yahoo executives were complaining about how little Couric was delivering for the reported $6 million per year she is being paid. In the months since, Couric has made little to no impact. Bringing Gregory on as an election analyst is the most buzz she’s created during this entire election season.
