Just hours after Mediaite said Chuck Todd was “making a bigger mess of ‘Meet the Press'” than David Gregory and had hurt his standing in the ratings (primarily by his decision to sit down with Breitbart News), we learn that just this last Sunday, Todd posted a rare second place “Meet” win over his Sunday competition in the all-important 25-54 demo.

Moreover, viewership surged 10% in total viewers and 19% in the demo over what Politico’s Dylan Byers describes as “the show’s fourth-quarter averages.”

One week’s ratings does not a trend make. Nor does two weeks. But two measly weeks is what Mediaite used to imperiously tell Chuck Todd what he was doing wrong, including his decision to talk to Breitbart News and Media Matters.

This is nothing new. Whenever Mediaite steps out of the business of aggregating video and into the adult world of Big Thinks, the results are usually laughable.

Using Mediate’s thinking, it would appear as though Chuck Todd’s decision to not sit down for an interview with Mediaite paid off with ratings gold.
