Huffington Post Hired 9/11 Truther to Cover Nat Security Because 'LGBT Work… Impressed Us'

On Thursday, The Huffington Post admitted that 9/11 truther Donte Stallworth’s embrace of gay marriage and gay rights led the outlet to eventually hire him as a national security correspondent.

As Breitbart News noted, even though the former NFL player killed a pedestrian while driving under the influence and pleaded guilty to manslaughter, is a 9/11 truther, and has floated conspiracy theories about vaccines, he took the mainstream and left-wing media’s breath away when he enthusiastically supported gay marriage and Michael Sam. In February, the Huffington Post praised Stallworth for destroying the “argument against gay players” in a Twitter rant.

Huffington Post Washington Bureau Chief Ryan Grim told the Washington Post that Stallworth’s “LGBT work brought him to our attention and impressed us.” Commenting on Stallworth’s past trutherism, Grim, putting forth a standard that the publication does not apply to politicians or nearly anyone else it covers, told Poynter that “that doesn’t represent how he thinks today” and “people say dumb things, but that shouldn’t define him.”
