Report: CNN Reporter Sued for Biting EMTs in Drunken Rage

CNN’s senior international correspondent Arwa Damon allegedly bit two EMTs on July 19 in a drunken rage at the U.S Embassy in Baghdad. On Monday, the two EMTs who were trying to help Damon that night sued CNN and Damon for $2 million in New York. 

According to the New York Post, Damon reportedly, “bit EMT??s Tracy Lamar and Charles Simons” on their forearms “before threatening them and saying she was a ‘major reporter for CNN.'” Even the State Department reportedly “launched an investigation” after the incident.

The lawsuit reportedly alleges that CNN knew Damon had “a history of becoming intoxicated and then abusive” and a “penchant for violence even when sober,” but still hired her.

Damon reportedly groveled for forgiveness in an e-mail to U.S. Embassy staff, which the Post obtained, “It’s been an extremely stressful time, I was exhausted, I had not had proper food all day and clearly miscalculated how my body would handle the alcohol consumed… Needless to say, I am utterly mortified and take full responsibility for my actions, which are inexcusable.” 

Damon also said she was still “being filled in on the details of my behavior,” was “beyond embarrassed,” knew her “actions and words were entirely out of my character,” and hoped “that everyone can at some point forgive me.”

David Jaroslawicz, a lawyer for the EMTs, said Damon was “biting them both pretty furiously. She has good teeth.”

“Eventually they subdued her,” he said. 

CNN, reportedly not aware of all the details surrounding the incident and lawsuit, did not comment.
