Time columnist Joe Klein tore into CNN, that it is “such an embarrassment to our profession that CNN has gone into the toilet the way it has.” Appearing in New York with PBS’ Jeff Greenfield, Klein said that with Time Inc. spinning off from Time Warner (which owns CNN), he feels comfortable speaking openly about the collapse of CNN.
Klein mentioned CNN’s obsessive coverage of missing Malaysian flight 370 specifically but seemed to be talking about the left-wing cable news network in general. After his “gone into the toilet” statement, the audience applauded.
“The other option,” Klein added. “Is to go to MSNBC to see the Reverend Al Sharpton, who I still consider to be a major criminal.” This comment was met with even bigger applause.
Referring to “Special Report with Bret Baier,” Klein said that the only place left to find a straight newscast at 6 p.m. is Fox News.
Greenfield agreed.
