Disgraced former New York Congressman Anthony Weiner has his eye on a new position, but it isn’t elective office. Weiner hints that he’d rather become a TV host.
In a recent appearance on the Fusion cable network, Weiner said, “I’m finding that there are a lot of ways you can influence the process, get outcomes that you like.”
On April 15, Weiner talked to Fusions’ Jorge Ramos when he hinted what he might try next since his last failure to gain office after he found a dismal showing at the polls in a run for mayor of New York City.
Ramos asked Weiner if he was done with politics or if he might run for office again.
Weiner, who lost his political career due to a series of risqué photos of himself in various stages of undress that he texted to a group of women he was not married to, ran for mayor not long after he resigned from Congress but, as he told Ramos, “we just went through a really rough campaign where it didn’t work out nearly the way I thought it would.”
As Weiner continued with his answer, he noted that Ramos himself was adding to the political debate in a different way than an elected official might and he could see himself adding his voice in that same way.
“I don’t anticipate running for office again,” Weiner said. “I believe that there are other ways, like guest hosting for your show.”
