Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin praised conservative talk radio icon Rush Limbaugh for fiercely defending new-media pioneer Matt Drudge Monday after the White House and mainstream journalists attacked and mocked Drudge for honestly saying that he had paid a penalty for not signing up for Obamacare in his quarterly tax filing.
“From one Dittohead to all you others, aren’t you thankful Rush defends truth, and as importantly, he defends those speaking truth!” Palin wrote on Facebook Monday. “Rush is consistently loyal to the cause of justice, walking the walk as he does here in defense of Drudge calling out Obamascare. It’s not commonplace that someone as high profile as is humanly possible takes valuable time to defend others. Very admirable. Very.”
Limbaugh, on his radio show Monday, ripped into the mainstream media for being ignorant about a tax law that is on the IRS website and IRS forms.
“It’s on the IRS website and still the media is running around calling Drudge a liar,” Limbaugh said on his Monday radio program. “Drudge is abiding by the law. They are calling him a liar. They are accusing him of trying to damage Obama. He is now referring to them as the Obama media.”
He said that the “total willful ignorance on the part of people who as members of the media experts on taxes and economics” who are “supposed to know more than you do so they can tell you what all this means when it is discussed on the news” was disturbing.
“But they are so in the tank for Obama that all they’re tuned to is anything that might appear harmful or damaging to Obama,” he continued. “They then have to circle the wagons as is always the case rather than debate the merits of anything. The objective is to smear and destroy whoever they consider to be the enemy of Obama.”
Breitbart’s Matthew Boyle chronicled how the White House and left-wing reporters mocked Matt Drudge’s true statement that he paid a “liberty tax” for not “getting covered” by Obamacare.
As Boyle explained:
Drudge indicated in his followup tweets that since he is self-employed as the proprietor of The Drudge Report, he files as a small business. According to the IRS’s website for self-employed individuals, they are required to pay taxes quarterly.
“As a self-employed individual, generally you are required to file an annual return and pay estimated tax quarterly,” the IRS website reads.
So, when they file and pay those 2014 first quarter taxes, such individuals have to pay the Obamacare Individual Mandate tax if they opted to not have health insurance – like Drudge just did.
Additionally, the IRS form (1040-ES) for estimating quarterly taxes specifically recommends adding the mandate penalty to line 12 for “other taxes” – to pay before the first quarterly deadline of April 15.
Earlier on Monday, Palin blasted the “yahoo reporters” and the “crackerjack ‘journalists'” who “still squirm around with their herd mentality to avoid the obvious.” She titled her post, “Honest Souls in Media? Prove It. Ask Away.”
“Their credibility is long gone. And they waste your time, America,” Palin said before urging Americans to “tap out” and change the channel if they have had enough.
She linked to an article by Shawn Mitchell that she said would be hilarious if it were not true:
Can any of you news hounds explain how what happened in Watergate was worse than anything this president has done? Work with me, Media Stars… it’s a serious question. Nixon had an enemies list. Obama publicly declared his desire to punish enemies and reward friends. Nixon went after whistleblowers like Ellsworth. Obama has prosecuted more administration personnel and journalists for divulging his secrets than any president in history. Nixon tried to get the IRS to hound his enemies. Obama successfully invited the IRS to persecute his. Nixon covered up the political break-in of a hotel office. Obama covered up the facts of the slaughter of an ambassador and three other Americans to protect his campaign. What did Nixon do that Obama didn’t do better and worse?
