Disgraced former-Congressman and failed New York mayoral candidate Anthony Weiner will join Business Insider as a monthly political columnist. The column will be titled “Weiner!” and debut on March 28.
Weiner was a sitting Congressman and Democrat rising star when, in May of 2011, Breitbart News broke the news of him tweeting out a picture of his crotch to a young woman who was not his wife. Weiner at first claimed that his Twitter feed had been hacked. He then accused Breitbart News founder, the late Andrew Breitbart, of lying.
Eventually, Weiner was forced to admit he had lied about everything and immediately resigned his Congressional seat. During the 2013 New York City mayoral race, Weiner seemed primed for a comeback. With his name recognition and the help of left-wing outlets like the New York Times and Buzzfeed Politics, early polls showed him leading the pack. A new revelation that Weiner had sexted with yet another woman, though, destroyed that campaign.
Weiner should be a good fit with Business Insider, a left-wing site staffed with young, clinical wonks as devoted to Big Business as they are to Big Government.
