The CNN chyron (see above) reads: ‘Duck Dynasty’ Dad Compared Homosexuality with Bestiality, Promiscuity In GQ Interview, and that is nothing more than a bald-faced and provable lie. What CNN is doing here is twisting the mitigating fact that Robertson went out of his way not to single out homosexual behavior (he never criticized gays as people) into a negative.

Robertson was quite obviously talking about “sin,” not gays. And rather than single out homosexual behavior (which could be seen as bigoted), Robertson listed many of the sins found in the Bible, including “the adulterers, the idolaters, the male prostitutes, the homosexual offenders, the greedy, the drunkards, the slanderers, the swindlers” and yes, bestiality.

According to CNN’s logic, Robertson compared drunks, swindlers, the greedy, and idolators to those who engage in bestiality. Of course that is ridiculous, but CNN is out to smear and silence, not inform.

This is exactly what Robertson said: “Everything is blurred on what’s right and what’s wrong… Sin becomes fine. Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there. Bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men.”

Robertson then paraphrased Corinthians from the Bible: “Don’t be deceived. Neither the adulterers, the idolaters, the male prostitutes, the homosexual offenders, the greedy, the drunkards, the slanderers, the swindlers–they won’t inherit the kingdom of God. Don’t deceive yourself. It’s not right.”

And if that wasn’t explicit enough, the “Duck Commander” added: “It seems like, to me, a vagina–as a man–would be more desirable than a man’s anus. That’s just me. I’m just thinking: There’s more there! She’s got more to offer. I mean, come on, dudes! You know what I’m saying? But hey, sin: It’s not logical, my man. It’s just not logical.”

And here is something else Robertson said that is getting almost no media play:

Our culture has accepted two huge lies. The first is that if you disagree with someone’s lifestyle, you must fear or hate them. The second is that to love someone means you agree with everything they believe or do. Both are nonsense. You don’t have to compromise convictions to be compassionate.

Anti-Christian CNN is not only lying about what Robertson said; they are putting all Christians in a damned if you do or don’t situation. If you single out homosexual behavior, you’re a bigot. If you talk about the many sins listed in the Bible, you are comparing those sins.

And here I thought CNN’s Credibility Catastrophes for 2013 might be done.
