CNN’s Jake Tapper sat down Wednesday for a Reddit interview and, when asked about bias in media, he gave a typically straight-forward answer:

Yes I do but I also think it’s more complicated than just liberal bias. I think there are a lot of hard-working reporters in NYC and DC who have never fired a gun, or never worked a 9-5 manual labor job, or lived in the middle of the country, or worried about their next paycheck, or have anyone in their family who serves in the military and I think that creates a cultural bias.

But I also think there are a lot of reporters who work to counter that and understand the limitations of their own realities.

But yes, I do think there is bias. Reluctant to name names though because I try to be collegial.

NBC’s Chuck Todd has also suggested to me via Twitter that the bias in media is “cultural” as opposed to political bias.

Personally, I would argue more of that point than I would concede it. But regardless of who is right about the disease, the end result is a left-wing political bias.

Yesterday, on Hugh Hewitt’s radio show, Tapper was just as forthcoming about the rhetoric we’re hearing from Democrats during this budget debate, including President Obama:

HEWITT: Now Jake Tapper, first question, do you think the President and the Democrats’ rhetoric is qualitatively different than the Speaker and the Republicans’ rhetoric?

TAPPER : Well, I haven’t heard the Republicans, we’re just talking about insults now, not anything else. I haven’t heard Republicans comparing the Democrats to suicide bombers or to kidnappers or to arsonists. But it’s possible that I’m not paying close enough attention.

“The Lead with Jake Tapper” can be seen every weekday on CNN at 4pm Eastern.
