Not Going Anywhere: Rush Signs Three-Year Contract with Cumulus

Much ink has been spilled over the last few months on the fate of the Rush Limbaugh radio program. While claims of flailing contract talks and rumors of its imminent demise abound, Limbaugh himself reports that all the gossip is wrong. He isn’t going anywhere.

In July, for instance, a Politico headline blared that Cumulus was planning to drop Limbaugh. Other news sources took up the Rush-is-done banner, as well. The whole industry was abuzz with the supposed end of Rush.

But Limbaugh has finally set them straight.

“I have an announcement to make, here,” Limbaugh said on his August 23 radio program. “On either Wednesday night or Thursday, we completed our negotiations with Cumulus Media, and there will not be any changes. I will continue to be on their radio stations for the next three years. It was really never in doubt,” he said.

Limbaugh did note that in New York his show will migrate from WABC and go to WOR. This change occurred because Rush is syndicated with Clear Channel and WOR is the Clear Channel station in New York.

Otherwise, though, Limbaugh has inked a three-year deal to stay right where he is all across the country.

“The bottom line is, no change for you. Wherever you’re listening to this radio show today, you’re gonna be able to hear it on January 2nd, 3rd… There will be no interruption to you. There will be no change,” he said.
