George Capsis (pictured), the 87-year-old publisher of the West Village’s WestView News was not arrested, but he was issued a violation for harassment after he slugged Democrat New York State Senator Brad Hoylman and an activist holding a sign in support of New York City mayoral candidate Christian Quinn.
Capsis is upset over hospital closures, which he says the Democrat Quinn hasn’t done enough to stop: “My wife died two days ago. She was at a hospital in the Bronx. I had to travel an hour and a half to get to see her,” Capsis explained, saying his wife Andromache Capsis died of lung cancer at the age of 87.”If this hospital had existed, I could have walked two blocks and spent time with her in the last hours of her life.”
The blue-on-blue violence occurred at a rally in support of Quinn’s record.
No word yet on why Capsis smacked Democrat Brad Hoylman.
