New Media Get Seats at WH Briefings

New York Times reporter Peter Baker tweeted some news yesterday that signals the shift in influence from old media organizations to new media entities:

Real Clear Politics is based in Chicago and was founded in 2000 by former options trader John McIntyre and former advertising agency account executive Tom Bevan. Their political poll aggregation hub has become a go-to page for most political reporters and junkies. The addition of RCP to the White House briefing room is seen by many media observers as a shift in relevance and importance for new media companies.

The traditional broadcast journalists and wire service reporters will still retain the prominent positions in the first two rows of the briefing room but the addition of mostly online entities for White House access could pave the way for further adjustments to the prominence given to these more institutional brands.
