Back in January, the left ridiculed Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) for questioning then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton about the CIA’s presence in Benghazi on the night of the the Sept. 11, 2012 attack on the American consulate.
However, after a new CNN report found that 35 CIA agents were “on the ground” during the attacks–some being seriously injured–CNN’s Jake Tapper suggested Sen. Paul’s questions to Clinton were not as wild as many claimed.
Tapper took to Twitter to remind everyone of Paul’s questions to then-Secretary of State Clinton:
In January, when Secretary of State Clinton testified at a Senate hearing, Senator Paul quizzed her about what the CIA was doing in Benghazi at the time of the attack, asked if the agency was running guns, and wondered if she could tell America why a “CIA annex” was there in the first place.
Clinton told Senator Paul that he would have to ask “the agency running the annex,” an indication that the CIA, not her Department of State, had control over the building.
After the hearing, many on the left lambasted Senator Paul as a wild-eyed conspiracy theorist for asking those questions.
Tapper was not the only one to remember the questioning. Senator Rand Paul himself reminded his Twitter followers of the questions to Clinton and asked, “did Hillary Clinton know the truth about gun-running from Benghazi?”
