David Shuster Heads to Al Jazeera

Former MSNBC anchor David Shuster has been tapped by Al Jazeera America to bring his special brand of journalism to the Qatar-owned media network.

Michael Calderone is reporting that sources close to the deal confirm will be an anchor for the network that is being re-formed from Shuster’s last television home, Al Gore’s Current TV:

Shuster will be a familiar face to cable news viewers, whether they’ve turned in recent years to MSNBC, Fox News, CNN, or Current TV, where he most recently served as an anchor and correspondent.

Previously, Shuster was an MSNBC daytime anchor and served as a guest-host for several of the network’s top shows, including “Countdown with Keith Olberman” and “Hardball.” Shuster came under fire during the 2008 Democratic primary for suggesting that former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s campaign had “pimped out” daughter Chelsea by working on her mother’s behalf. Shuster weathered that storm, but left MSNBC in 2010 after being suspended for taping a pilot at rival CNN.

Andrew Breitbart aficionados will also remember a few other career highlights that Calderone left out:

First let’s remember the confrontation they had on MSNBC:

Then there was Andrew’s revelation that Shuster (“I have no horse in this race”) lied to get him on the air in the first place:

As you see, Shuster is attempting to lure me into this story based upon the false premise of his objective neutrality. Notice he says, “As I said, I don’t have a horse in this race.” A simple Google search of David Shuster and James O’Keefe immediately finds that Shuster went into a Twitter frenzy to tar and feather James O’Keefe and propagated what are now provably false lies about the Landrieu case.

And let’s not forget Shuster getting suspended from Twitter because he confronted James O’Keefe under the guise of journalism:

Of course, O’Keefe never tapped anyone’s phones. He was never convicted of a felony. He never went to prison. Shuster on the other hand got fired from MSNBC, went to Current TV and is now on Al Jazeera.
