While covering the immigration rally in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday, Breitbart News correspondent Matthew Boyle attempted to ask a question of the officials in attendance. However, after announcing himself as a member of the Breitbart staff, the Tea Party crowd erupted into raucous cheers at the mere mention of Andrew Breitbart’s news site.
After the address by Republicans such as Congressmen Steve King (IA), Louie Gohmert (TX) and Randy Weber (TX), Boyle stepped forward to ask his question. In proper news conference style, Boyle identified himself as “Matthew Boyle, Breitbart News.”
But as soon as he finished saying for whom he worked, the crowd of several hundred Tea Party supporters erupted in loud applause, drowning out Boyle’s attempt to even ask the question.
In fact, the applause continued unabated for a prolonged period and it took Boyle three tries to even get his question asked of the Congressmen in attendance.
Boyle finally got to ask his question, and Rep. King dutifully answered it.
Once that was done, Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) whipped up the crowd again saying, “Let’s hear it for Matthew Boyle of Breitbart News,” starting the applause and cheers up all over again.
