CNN will partner with the left-leaning BuzzFeed on a YouTube channel.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the partnership will give BuzzFeed access to CNN’S archives so it can create mash-up videos that will appear on CNN.com and the CNN/BuzzFeed channel on YouTube.
The move is reportedly an example of CNN chief Jeff Zucker’s “new thinking,” but it will likely reinforce the network’s liberal image.
BuzzFeed, which likewise has earned a left-wing reputation, will also reportedly “hire 30 people for the new initiative with production offices in a newly constructed studio in Los Angeles that will have a coffee shop and store where influencers, thinkers and celebrities can create informal videos made for the social web.”
CNN’s potential association with the content produced by BuzzFeed may make it even more difficult for CNN to present itself as an “objective” network.
