Ari Fleischer knows what it’s like to take the podium in the White House briefing room, especially with a hostile press corps. As the spokesman for the White House during the George W. Bush Administration, he had to deal with reporters challenging the White House on a daily basis. Jay Carney has only had to deal with a hostile press for the past couple of days.
This morning Fleischer joined me and co-host Brian Wilson on “Mornings on the Mall” on WMAL in Washington DC to discuss the latest scandals gripping the White House and, specifically, Jay Carney’s role as spokesman for the administration.
Wilson laid out the issue of the Benghazi talking points and Carney maintaining that the White House and the State Department only changed “one stylistic edit” of the talking points, despite the fact that pages and pages of emails show that multiple revisions were made to them, mostly at the State Department’s request.
“I look at these emails and I say, ‘you know what, that’s just simply not true,'” Wilson said, regarding the assertion that only one word was changed in the talking points. “On that issue, I think you’re entirely right about that. And, I think the emails show that’s right,” Fleischer responded.
