NBC News announced today that New Jersey Governor Chris Christie will co-host the final hour of Friday’s “Today” show from the Jersey Shore.
To add to the Jersey pride, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie will join the TODAY team as a co-host of the show’s 8 a.m. hour on Friday.
Savannah Guthrie revealed the news about TODAY’s Great American Adventure while on “The Tonight Show With Jay Leno” Monday night.
The move has the potential of further blurring the lines between politics and media by having an active, sitting governor, one running for re-election this year, as a host for a nationally broadcast news program. From Christie’s perspective, the move is brilliant, as he continues to position himself as a non-partisan, non-ideological politician who could have broad appeal in a potential national race.
