Former South Carolina Sen. Jim DeMint, the new president of the conservative Heritage Foundation, will join “Breitbart News Sunday with Stephen K. Bannon” on SiriusXM Patriot Channel 125 on Sunday night. DeMint will be discussing Heritage Foundation analyst Robert Rector’s forthcoming analysis of the financial impact and cost to taxpayers of immigration reform.
The show is the first in a six-week series aimed at influencing and shaping each week’s news cycle and narratives by showcasing the late Andrew Breitbart’s legacy of fearless journalism that sought more, not less, voices.
The show goes from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. EDT, and is broadcast on SiriusXM Patriot Channel 125. The channel also serves as the home of Mark Levin, Sean Hannity and Glenn Beck.
DeMint will be discussing the forthcoming report that, as Breitbart News has detailed before, could derail the bipartisan “Gang of Eight” pushing immigration reform as it is expected to estimate immigration reform costs as several trillion dollars in increased entitlement spending.
At a recent Blogger’s Briefing at the Heritage Foundation, DeMint described the report as: “What Heritage is doing right now and we’re working with some of best guys in the business, scholars like Robert Rector who developed the groundbreaking welfare reform research and policy work and he developed the cost that a lot of us used back in 2007 that helped us realize that this was not free,” DeMint said, referring to Rector’s report “The Fiscal Cost of Low-Skill Immigrants to the U.S. Taxpayer.”
“Amnesty is not a free proposition to taxpayers,” DeMint added. “So we’re going to quantify that cost. I can guarantee you Heritage will be the only organization in the country that is looking at the true cost of a blanket amnesty proposal.”
Americans for Tax Report and the Cato Institute have already attacked Heritage and Rector, claiming that Rector’s 2007 study was flawed. When asked about the preemptive strike at the recent Heritage blogger event, DeMint replied: “Criticism of a report they hadn’t seen yet? Sounds like Washington.”
Tune in to Breitbart News Sunday with Stephen K. Bannon tonight to hear a discussion of this forthcoming report with Sen. DeMint.
