Make a racist remark, get fired by CBS. Call Jesus Christ gay, and you’re good to go. Just ask Don Imus.
Imus was fired by CBS in February of 2009 after he referred to the members of the Rutgers women’s basketball team as “nappy-headed hos.’ The firestorm that broke out was fierce, and Imus went down in a hurry. But on Wednesday of this week, Imus, speaking with Kirsten Powers, said:
You know there’s a Gospel of Judas floating around. There were hundreds of gospels written, only four made it into the book. There was the Gospel of Thomas, Mary had a gospel, they all had a gospel. But Judas… there’s some indication there that Jesus may have been gay.
Considering the statements vis-a-vis homosexuality in 1st Corinthians 6:9-11 and Romans 1:25-27 it’s unlikely that the writers of the Gospels thought Jesus was gay; James Martin, a Jesuit priest, said, “There’s nothing in the Gospel of Judas, or any of the four accepted gospels, that shows in any way that Jesus was gay.”
Shockingly, there have been no condemnations of Imus from the usually vocal Left. Can’t imagine why not.
