The Associated Press reports that another journalist has been murdered in Somalia. Rahmo Abdulqadir Farah, a female journalist from Somalia was gunned down in Mogadishu Sunday night.
Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) reports the dangerous climate in Somalia for journalists:
Rahmo, 25, a reporter for Radio Abudwaq (Worshipper), was visiting Mogadishu from Galgadud district, a region in central Somalia, where the station was based. Abdikarim Ahmed, director of Radio Abudwaq, said the staff was shocked by the news and knew of no motive for the attack, news reports said.
Local journalists told CPJ the station covers news and social affairs for the central region of Somalia. It is unclear if the station had aired any sensitive stories in recent weeks.
Last month, Prime Minister Abdi Farah Shirdon set up an Independent Task Force on Human Rights whose mandate includes investigating past cases of journalist murders, according to news reports. The prime minister also announced a $50,000 public reward for information leading to the conviction of a journalist killer.

MOGADISHU, Somalia – A media colleague says that gunmen in Somalia have shot and killed a female Somali journalist.
Abdikarim Ahmed Bulhan, the director of Abudwak radio in central Somalia, said Monday that two men armed with pistols killed 25-year-old Rahmo Abdulqadir Farah in Mogadishu on Sunday evening. Her murder brings the number of journalists killed in Somalia this year to three.
Somalia is one of the world’s most dangerous places for journalist to operate. Last year 18 media workers were killed, mostly in targeted murders.
Bulhan called it an “outrageous killing” of an aspiring journalist. No group immediately claimed responsibility for the killing.
The government has promised to take action against those who kill journalists, but so far no arrests have yet been made for any of the journalist deaths in 2012.
