Today, during Carol Costello’s CNN hour, her question of the day was, “Should Chris Christie be publicly shamed into losing weight?”
And with that we have officially entered day three of CNN’s viciously partisan attack against the New Jersey governor and potential 2016 Republican contender.
Tuesday, CNN’s left-wing hit-man, Jim Acosta, got the ball rolling with an interview with a White House doctor who said she feared Christie would die in office. This was then used to tie Christie up in knots. At a press conference, the Governor was forced to respond to the irresponsible doctor and did so with a characteristic “shut up” — which she deserved. Responsible doctors do not give a fatal prognosis through the national media.
Acosta, naturally, ate up every moment and, on Wolf Blitzer’s primetime show yesterday, gleefully recounted every detail.
And now CNN is floating the idea of publicly shaming Christie over his weight, something they would never consider doing to a gay politician (gay sex is risky behavior) or Sandra Fluke (promiscuous sex is risky behavior.)
What this is all about, obviously, is CNN attempting to clear the way for Hillary Clinton or whomever the 2016 Democrat nominee might be. Acosta, Blitzer, Costello, and CNN are desperate to snipe our guys one-by-one, and turning Christie’s weight into a major liability and embarrassment has nothing to do with his health and everything to do with trying to define him.
How do we know this? Well, look at the photo Hillary Clinton posted above. Why didn’t CNN ask this doctor asked about Hillary’s obesity, advanced age, and recent health problems? Madam Secretary will be nearly 70 in 2016 and is a full 15 years older than Christie.
Pictures of Hillary’s girth are also hard to find, probably because the media protects her.
Granted, Hillary’s not as overweight at Christie. But she’s obviously entering the territory of the morbidly obese, and at her age, that’s a much bigger deal than Christie.
When it comes to protecting Democrats’ access to power, there is no low to which the media will not stoop. They’re just getting started on Christie, and you can bet Rubio’s next.
P.S. In a just world, I would never consider posting that photo of Hillary. But we do not live in a just world; we live in CNN’s world.
