This weekend National Review Institute hosted a Summit in Washington DC titled “The Future of Conservatism.”
The fact that National Review felt the need to call on Joe Scarborough to sum up the “Trouble with Conservatism” is Exhibit A for what is wrong with these navel-gazing enterprises.
Maybe, just maybe an MSNBC host is NOT the answer for the “Future of Conservatism.” Maybe DC groups should look to the parts of the country where conservatives have actually won something. Maybe Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) should have been on the stage. Or Sen. Pat Toomey (R-PA), you know, the guy who was abandoned by these same smart guys in blue blazers back in 2004 for Arlen Spector.
