The very first order of business for Current TV’s new owners, Al Jazeera, was to fire former New York governor Eliot Spitzer. Starting today, Spitzer will no longer host his Current TV primetime political talk show, “Viewpoint”. Comedian and regular Current TV guest John Fugelsgan will fill in as host of the low-rated show until Al Jazeera completes its overall plans, which is expected to take about three months.
Though this is the first pro-active move by Al Jazeera, two other Current hosts, former Michigan governor Jennifer Granholm and California’s lieutenant governor Gavin Newsom, have already said they will be leaving the network in the coming weeks.
