Investigative journalist Kerry Picket has joined Breitbart News.
Picket formerly edited and wrote for the Washington Times opinion section and its “Water Cooler” blog. She also covered Capitol Hill and campaign and elections for the publication.
Picket has regularly appeared as a guest commentator on dozens of cable news networks like Fox News, CNN, Fox Business Network, and the Christian Broadcast Network. She has also appeared in prime time specials on Fox News’s “Hannity” dealing with issues such as crony capitalism and corruption in Washington, D.C.
Breitbart News CEO and President Larry Solov said “We are so glad to welcome Kerry aboard at Breitbart News. Her smart, tenacious and thorough reporting is a great fit for us. Investigative reporting is a cornerstone of what we are doing and Kerry represents a major addition to the team.”
Breitbart News Executive Chairman Stephen K. Bannon heralded Picket’s toughness and intrepid nature.
During the Obamacare protests in 2010, Picket debunked allegations made by prominent members of the Congressional Black Caucus — Reps. Andre Carson, Emanuel Cleaver, James Clyburn, and John Lewis — that Tea Party protestors shouted the N-word at Rep. Lewis. Picket interviewed people who were at the Capitol Hill protests and went to police stations across Washington, D.C. to ask if police officers had heard of such an incident. She discovered there had been no complaints about protestors yelling the N-word, contrary to what mainstream media outlets were reporting at the time.
The late Andrew Breitbart offered a $100,000 reward to anyone who could produce proof that Tea Party protestors hurled the N-word at Rep. John Lewis. Nobody claimed the reward.
Before coming to the Washington Times, Picket was an associate producer at the Media Research Center for the video-sharing site Eyeblast.tv and a blogger for Newsbusters.org.
Picket also regularly appears on radio. She provided daily commentary on Washington D.C.’s WTNT with host Andy Parks, and can also be heard on hundreds of syndicated talk radio stations.
She has broken stories on the investigation surrounding President Barack Obama’s illegal immigrant uncle, who was arrested in Boston on a DUI and was found to have been in the country despite a previous deportation. Picket also broke the news that director Spike Lee tweeted out the wrong address for George Zimmerman at the height of the Trayvon Martin ordeal.
Picket has also produced news content for Robin Quivers on “The Howard Stern Show” on Sirius satellite radio as well as written copy for MTV Radio.
Picket is a graduate of Denison University in Ohio and a native New Yorker.
