Time’s Massimo Calabresi claims the inspector general’s report on Operation Fast & Furious destroys right wing conspiracy theories. The old media is willing to do anything to keep this stain off of the administration, including ignore all the known facts about Fast & Furious.
The first supposed conspiracy theory is about gun control. The left insists that Fast & Furious had nothing to do with gun control, despite the fact that Sharyl Attkisson at CBS News published emails proving the ATF was using the stats from Fast & Furious to push gun control. In fact, this “conspiracy theory” is so popular I actually made Ms. Attkisson’s story a link in my Twitter profile. It’s not a conspiracy theory. It’s a FACT.
Mr. Calabresi then explains how the IG report allows Criminal Division Chief Lanny Breuer, Attorney General Eric Holder’s right hand man, off the hook. Yet, all the evidence leading up to the report contradicts this, especially the wiretap applications. It says, “Breuer had no role in authorizing [F&F] wiretap applications.”
However, Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa sent a letter to Attorney General Eric Holder about these wiretap applications. In it he states that Mr. Holder’s top officials, including Mr. Breuer, authorized these applications. There were six applications and each one included a memo from each official. That means there was one from Mr. Breuer. The ones from him were specifically marked for Emory Hurley, the lead prosecutor for Fast and Furious.
These aren’t conspiracy theories. They’re facts. There are bodies attached to this operation, including Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry and 300 Mexican citizens. The media should be providing facts instead of being a PR firm for this administration.
