On the one-year anniversary of the Occupy Wall Street, the Occupy movement has triumphantly reported police arrested a photojournalist, failing to note the journalist is also openly an Occupy activist.
Protesters started a Twitter hashtag to promote this meme: #journarrest. The gist of this meme is to insinuate that the out-of-control police fascists have swept up an innocent journalist in their brutal arrests of harmless Occupiers.
The name of the individual arrested Monday morning is Julia Reinhart. As website PixIQ reported:
New York City police are continuing their crackdown against photographers and journalists during the Occupy Wall Street anniversary protest, arresting a photographer this morning because she did not have NYPD-issued press credentials, according to reports on Twitter.
Julia Reinhart, who is also a member of the National Press Photographer Association, was wearing her NPPA identification at the time when she stopped to take a photo.
The article does not mention that Ms. Reinhart is an Occupy activist. According to her official Occupy Wall Street profile, Julia started a forum topic, “Call for Solidarity with the People of Syria Tue 1/24 8:45am outside UN.”
As exposed in the upcoming Stephen K. Bannon film “Occupy Unmasked,” this technique has been used before. During the first big Brooklyn Bridge demonstrations nearly a year ago, New York Times stringer Natasha Lennard was arrested. Later, Breitbart News revealed that Ms. Lennard was, in fact, an OWS activist herself and the press failed to report it.
