MSM was furious with Mitt Romney today after he issued a strongly-worded condemnation of the state department’s initial apology and today criticized the Obama administration for attempting to placate our attackers. Romney didn’t apologize. He condemned. More importantly, he led. It was a move that shamed President Obama by comparison.
Media went into overdrive to protect Obama, their political investment. Politifact brought out three “apology” experts to help lay the groundwork for Obama to deflect. Multiple outlets attempted to reframe the focus on Romney’s response, which they chided, as opposed to Obama’s foreign policy fumble and his failure to fortify embassies abroad leading up to September 11th. Romney held a press conference and took questions whereas Obama refused questions and flew to campaign in Vegas. Reporters at Romney’s presser were caught by a hot mic attempting to organize a narrative, not their questions, against him. BuzzFeed co-opted Politico’s “anonymous source” formula to try to attack Romney’s response. NBC denounced Romney (not the attackers, stunning). The NYT buried the attacks and joined Democrats in using Romney as a deflection for Obama’s ineptitude.
The Huffington Post took a breather by asking ‘why should they care about the death of a diplomat?‘
Meanwhile Obama showcased his indecisiveness before he jetted off to Las Vegas right as angry mobs with guns approached our embassy in Cairo for a second time and two warships approached Libya.
Media ignores the recklessness of this administration. The curtain separating the legend of media objectivity from the truth of its propaganda will be shredded if this administration loses its reelection bid. Media is now propaganda. If Obama loses it’s not just a referendum on him, it’s a rejection of legacy media’s mass-market propaganda.
This evening Obama remarked that Romney “shoots first, aims later.” Interesting, coming from someone incapable of aiming. Obama skipped a a week’s worth of intel briefings leading up to the attacks — in fact, he’s missed half of his daily intelligence briefings. He failed to strengthen security at embassies despite years of warnings from the embassy staffers themselves — on 9/11 especially. Obama also apparently missed the red flags, perhaps which would have been noticeable in the intel briefings he skipped:
The officials said there were indications that members of a militant faction calling itself Ansar al Sharia – which translates as Supporters of Islamic Law – may have been involved in organizing the attack on the U.S. Consulate in Libya’s second-largest city.
They also said some reporting from the region suggested that members of Al-Qaeda’s north Africa-based affiliate, known as Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb, may have been involved.
The media cares more about winning an election for the Democrat incumbent than anything else, more than the basic principles of its responsibility.
