With Keith Olbermann gone from Current TV, Al Gore had to make a splash. He certainly made one by hiring disgraced former New York governor and failed MSNBC host Eliot Spitzer, who promptly showed why he’d been fired from CNN:
Spitzer’s debut pulled only 47,000 total viewers, with just 10,000 in the key 25-54 demographic. While viewership is generally depressed on Fridays, that’s still down 74 percent compared with Olbermann’s March average in the 8 p.m. time slot.
When Spitzer is fired, perhaps Current TV can hire Rosie O’Donnell and finally hit that single-digit viewership mark they’re clearly seeking so desperately.
