Governor Sarah Palin accepts an invitation from Rolling Thunder, a non-profit veteran’s organization that holds an annual motorcycle ride in Washington D.C. every Memorial Day … and what does the MSM do? Well, what they always do when it comes to Governor Palin: using well-honed Alinsky tactics, they attack with the goal in mind of discrediting, embarrassing and undermining her. In this case, MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell put on the air Ted Shpak, national legislative director of Rolling Thunder, who claimed Palin had not been invited to Monday’s event. Furthermore, he all but accused the mother of a Veteran of hijacking a Veteran’s event for mercenary political purposes — a pretty serious charge in a country that reveres the men and women who protect us.
Andrea Mitchell on the right, obviously bitter over the epic fail of an ambush interview
And yes, of course, Andrea Mitchell got the story wrong. Way wrong. Hot Air’s Ed Morrissey, a nice guy who offers Mitchell a benefit of the doubt that can only mean he has better reportorial instincts than she does, took time out of his Friday night to get to the bottom of it all:
After I read this story last night, I got in contact with Christine Colborne, who handles the media for Rolling Thunder. She explained that Shpak didn’t know that Palin had been indeed invited to ride at the event. The invitation came from a retired board member, Michael DiPaolo, who had connections in Alaska and got Palin to agree to attend.
That’s great work on Morrissey’s part. Hat’s off and all of that. But…
…Lookie here.
Not only is the toothpaste out of the tube but The Big Picture reason the MSM operates in this manner when it comes all things Palin — and only Palin — is already a mission accomplished, and will only be further accomplished as the fight to set the record straight is waged over the next few days.
It’s what I call stirring the Palin-Fury; a storm of exhausting personal drama the MSM keeps perpetually alive at all costs in order to undermine the Governor as a serious political figure. Once you see The Matrix behind what the MSM is doing — the real goal behind their sinister behavior — you understand that whether or not whatever story they’re reporting on is true or valid has nothing to do with whether or not they’ve succeeded — because it’s just a fact that anything that keeps the Palin-Fury swirling is a success.
Andrea Mitchell has been around forever and was just embarrassed by a blogger who bothered to actually dig a little deeper than she was willing to. But that doesn’t matter to Mitchell or the MSM. When it comes to Palin, the goal is never the truth, the goal is to Alinsky her with nonsensical personal drama that not only serves to suck all the air out of any chance she has at being taken seriously but also to exhaust her supporters. The psy-ops tactic is to make us blame Palin for this never-ending nonsensical soap opera, to make us wish she would just go away.
Talk to me, Sarah! Validate me!
This is why — deep breath — the corrupt MSM goes after her family; keeps Levi Johnston in the news; posts two-year old Thanksgiving videos; tells us more about Palin’s wardrobe than President Obama’s relationship with Bill Ayers; reduces a speech laying out a foreign policy vision into headlines about her saying “our President” instead of “Obama”; blames her for a tragedy in Tucson; writes stories about an aide’s tweets; headlines perceived misstatements or mispronounced words over substance; never fails to air Tina Fey’s latest SNL appearance. This is why Politico reduces a 20 minute television appearance into this, investigates tanning beds, and legitimizes discredited obsessives who have made a cottage industry out of destroying her. And most importantly, this is why Andrew Sullivan — a rancid-soul who attempts to freak-show Palin’s family with astonishing cruelty — will always be welcome into the MSM fold.
Think about it. What are we all talking about today? It’s surely not a potential GOP heavyweight’s foreign policy vision or her ideas surrounding our current energy crisis. We’re not talking about her ideas, record, policies, or statements. And we’re surely not talking about the failed record of the failed president she might seek to replace.
Andrea Mitchell set out to stir this weekend’s narrative with Palin-Fury and even though she got the story wrong she succeeded where it matters.
Like I’ve said before, these are bad people not dumb people.
