There are Kool-Aid drinkers and then there is Ed Schultz. Even in the liberal bastion of MSNBC, the depth of his Obama worship stands out. He also doesn’t have a very solid grasp of irony.
With Donald Trump’s first attack on Obama’s legitimacy finally coming to naught, Mr. Schultz feels the need to double down. He had some comments to make about the President and The Donald. Clearly Schultz has decided random statements are an effective substitute for coherent arguments.

We’ll go through these statements one by one.
“Do you mean to tell me he’s questioning the academic prowess of one of the smartest Presidents we’ve ever had?”
I don’t think anyone has seen evidence Mr. Obama’s academic prowess, considering his school records were never released. That, of course, is neither here nor there, but we can question whether or not he’s one of the smartest Presidents ever. That is an empirical statement. Why qualifies him as such? The stellar economy? America’s exceptional standing in the eyes of the world? Oh, I know, he’s so darn smart that he gives other countries money to extract oil but does everything in his power to shut down drilling anywhere in America. He then continues this brilliance by forming a commission to investigate why gas prices are so darn high.
“This is what the Republican Party stands for: Racism.”
Yes. That’s right. That card is being played again. Just to make sure everyone is up on the logic, here’s how it works: question Obama’s chops on anything and you’re a racist. Not only that, but you have no valid arguments to make if you’re a Republican, you’ll just have to accept that you’re officially evil. Q.E.D. By the way, I have a question for Ed; how many non-white males are in positions of importance at the organization for which you work?
I thought racism was defined as believing there are inherent differences between people’s abilities based on their race. Oh, you know like, if they’re African American or Hispanic ,they can’t get a job on their own individual merits.
“I think Donald Trump is a racist.”
That’s the right way to end a rant, with a very specific statement about a very specific person. The Donald hates black people. Not because he refuses to hire African Americans. Not because he makes comments about negro accents. No, he is a racist because he has the temerity to expect the President actually to be straightforward with his record and with his policies.
The simple truth is that Mr. Schultz is incapable of forming a rational argument. He falls back on the only possible rhetorical tool left to him, making stuff up and tossing out ad hominem attacks. A little note you folks at over at MSNBC, that boat has sailed. You’ve lost.
