It’s come to this. The totalitarian Ministry of Newspeak er, I mean Media Matters for America has so much Soros money that they actually employ a guy to watch what we are saying on Twitter, even if it’s trash talk with buddies over a football game. I’m not joking. Even more outrageous, all of the thousand-plus contributors here at “The Bigs” are under this scrutiny. And whenever any of us do something that the self-appointed thought-police at MMfA deem worthy of criticizing, we are all labeled with the same moniker: “Andrew Breitbart Blogger.” Here’s how they came after me, for sending a Tweet about an NFL game:
Let’s start at the beginning: First of all, I am an American man. Being an American man, I love the NFL. I am also from Detroit. Being an American man from Detroit who loves the NFL, it therefore goes to reason that I hate the Chicago Bears. Everyone with me so far? (I’m trying to make this so simple that even the joyless, agoraphobic shut-ins like those staffing MMfA will understand.)
To add to the American male narrative, please note that a good friend of mine, Adam Baldwin, loves the Chicago Bears (you see where this is going?) On January 16th, through the fluke of the softest schedule in the NFL season (#32 out of 32 teams) the hated Bears were playing in a playoff game against a team who didn’t even finish the regular season with a winning record. The next week, those same Bears (who suck) found themselves playing for the NFC Championship and a spot in the Super Bowl. Can I take this moment to point out that I hate the Bears? Thank you.
I tend to say a lot of stuff about everything on Twitter. About my kids, my haircut, Broadway musicals, hot women, politics, and, oh yes, sports. On the occasion of January 16th, I took it upon myself to remind my friend and anyone else who likes the Bears that they do, in fact, suck. They suck, and their players suck, and their fans suck, and oh yes their coach really sucks. Really, he does. Don’t believe me? Google “Lovie Smith sucks” and see what you get (mostly from Bears fans).
One of my tweets pointed out the undying love that the sports media seems to have for Lovie and every mediocre coach who happens to be black. (This is true. I am an addict of the ESPN show PTI and the hopelessly liberal hosts Tony Kornheiser and Mike Wilbon will eviscerate any coach, anywhere, anytime, but constantly praise Lovie Smith and Marvin Lewis even though they both suck… did I mention that I hate the Bears?)
So I tweeted this:
To remind the reader, Rush got into a bit of “politically correct” trouble when he said that Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb was mediocre but the liberal sports media was in the tank for him because they like the narrative of a black quarterback. (Rush is a Steelers fan and, by definition, hates all things Philadelphia Eagles, so put that in the contextual mix please).
I was challenged by some people who follow me on Twitter, which is the way real men handle these things, and I went on to praise two of my favorite coaches, Tony Dungy and Mike Tomlin (they are black for those of you who don’t know football, I mean you MMfA minion who is reading this). But somehow, amazingly, my praise for black NFL coaches never made it into Matt Gertz’ boring post at Media Matters.
Here are some of them:
Clearly you can see that I am engaging in some banter and trash talk with other folks on Twitter and I’m praising my favorite coaches Tomlin and Dungy while trashing the coach of the Bears, who suck. But Matt Gertz on Media Matters doesn’t get that. All he saw when he was sitting there in a dark room monitoring my tweets on a Sunday afternoon in January while a great football game was on (man his life is sad, isn’t it?), all he saw was a chance to attack. Which I’m fine with, but Gertz wasn’t even man enough to attack me, he used this as a chance to attack Andrew Breitbart.
This new, gutless tactic is being employed by these guys at every turn. Jim Hoft, who writes at Gateway Pundit hosted by Right Network, regularly contributes a post to Big Government or Big Journalism. If he writes something that the Orwellian flock at MMfA don’t like, even if he wrote it on his own blog at Right Network, they describe him as “Breitbart Blogger Jim Hoft”. If this site’s Editor Dana Loesch says something on her afternoon radio show that they don’t approve of, they call her “Breitbart Blogger Dana Loesch”. And here I was engaged in NFL trash talk on Twitter and they set me up as “Top Breitbart Blogger”. (By the way, that whole “Top” modifier has caused me no end of pain from the unforgiving Warner Todd Huston, he thought he was “Top”).
Being an American man who likes to engage in a tussle or two, I went to Matt Gertz Twitter page so I could call him out and get into a bit of a Twitter war with him over this. Lo and behold, check out his page:
Classic isn’t it? Mr. “I-monitor-all-of-your-tweets-and-make-a-big-deal-out-of-them-on-my-well-financed-yet-deathly-boring-website” has protected his tweets from any scrutiny! No wonder he only has 50 followers. But wait, it gets better. Check out the disclaimer in his profile:
Mr. Gertz holds his employer, Media Matters, harmless of any offense he may cause by expressing his lame views to his elite, select group of followers on Twitter, but he associates my NFL trash talk to Breitbart. How liberating it must be to be part of the authoritarian elite who sit and hold all others thoughts and expressions up for ridicule and denouncement and yet be free of the same treatment from others.
Who anointed MMfA and their very important Deputy Editorial Director to sit in castigating judgment of us all? And why won’t Mr. Gertz be a man and engage in a debate with someone he disagrees with instead of lobbing innuendo and guilt by association from the protective walls of his Soros-built chamber of horrors?
To sum up, you need to take away from this post some key points:
- American men engage in trash-talk, especially when arguing about sports
- The joyless nerds at MMfA don’t get that because they are either not American, or not men or just don’t seem to understand either
- Just because I say something brilliant, witty, profound, life-altering or obscene, it should not be attributed to Andrew Breitbart. (Believe it or not, he does not control everything or anything that we say)
- You should all follow me on Twitter, I’m HILARIOUS
- And finally, and most importantly: THE BEARS SUCK
