Looks like Democrats got the memo.
Last week I worked for Liberty.com and covered a protest at Sharron Angle’s office in Las Vegas where a dozen MoveOn.org protesters showed up to go after the Chamber of Commerce for taking foreign money and buying TV ads during this election campaign. Of course, there is no proof of the foreign money, but the accusation is there and that’s the main thing that matters.
So far, the activist old media, to its credit, is not buying the Democrats claim. Certainly, they could be a little more forceful in refuting it, and mocking it. I’m suggesting Saturday Night Live do a skit where the Democrats go after Girl Scout Cookies because of a possible infiltration of foreign money. They sell 200 million boxes of cookies a year, there has to be some foreign money in there somewhere. Possibly, maybe, could be, might be.
Democrats have reached a new low in going after Republicans because it really is all they’ve got. They don’t want to talk about the economy, jobs, a failed “stimulus,” and a very unpopular “healthcare” bill. The media says they love to see candidates “stick to the issues” and ignore the foolishness, well, this is a great opportunity for the next three weeks for the media to “put up.” Make the Democrats stick to the issues of this election and focus on what the voters want.
It was interesting speaking to these protesters and understand the depth of the ideological divide between the left and the right in this country. They all gave me the same story and you can tell they believed it. They have been convinced that the main problem in this country is big business and rich people who have stolen everything they’ve gained over the years and the only thing that could save America is a large government that protects us all from this evil. They ignore the real threat that our Founders saw of a large, intrusive government that has much more power to imprison people, they could only see big business and rich people as a threat.
I brought up George Soros’s name a few times to the protesters and some did not even know who he is. Since this was a protest by MoveOn.org, I found that fascinating. It was Soros who funded MoveOn.org with his billions in foreign money. That would be real foreign money, not the supposed foreign money Democrats talk about today. Soros spent millions in the 2004 Presidential campaign trying to get John Kerry elected. Soros paid for live TV interviews with local stations in battleground states a few days before the election to try to swing it Kerry’s way. I know, I did the interview with Soros for my TV station at the time. If Democrats want to go after rich people with lots of foreign money trying to swing elections, they need to look no further than Soros and MoveOn.org.
The local media ignored the protest by MoveOn.org because it was so small and irrelevant as to not matter, plus, it was actually respectful on both sides and the Angle supporters who were there protested peacefully alongside the Reid/MoveOn.org protesters. Imagine that. No fights, no brawls, no TV coverage. The irony that this entire event, and others like them across the country, was organized by the king of foreign money in political campaigns, should not be lost. The media loves irony and it should not ignore the Soros connection.
