Frightened by websites that don’t only report on stories that are Soros- and Obama-administration approved, CNN decides it just better to demand that free speech be shut down.
Yesterday on CNN’s American Morning, Kiran Chetry and John Roberts interviewed Shirley Sherrod about her response to the recent controversy over the release of her comments at an NAACP dinner.
When Roberts pressed Sherrod about what she would like to see Andrew Breitbart do in response to her summary firing by Labor secretary Tom Vilsack over her comments she said, “apologize.” That was the extent after rephrasing multiple times, “an apology.”
Apparently that wasn’t enough for Chetry. She responded by saying, “Would you like to see his site shut down?”
MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann came back from vacation to rant about the Sherrod story and now CNN is directing, completely unprompted by their guest, Sherrod to demand that Breitbart’s site be shut down. Olbermann and the rest of the left haven’t stopped blaming Fox News since Sherrod lost her job at lightning speed for her own comments that were in context (even though Fox News didn’t report on the Sherrod story until after she lost her job).
How do we go from “an apology” to shutting down free speech? It’s easy for the fascist left.
The gross overreaction by the White House and by the leftist media is an expression of just how scared the left really is this election cycle. The left is afraid of Andrew Breitbart and sites like his because they’ve called the left out on their gross misuse of the “race card.” As a result, the American people are now desensitized to the left’s false accusations of racism. The ‘N-word’ accusation by Rep. Carson along with the NAACP’s use of this story to denounce the Tea Party in their “resolution” (which really doesn’t affect anyone) had the response from the Breitbart sites of constant pressure to prove these blatantly false accusations to be true. Even in Carson’s recent response to the story, doubling down on his account, he still is unable to produce one shred of evidence to support his claim. Because of Breitbart’s pressure on this story (and then the rest of the center-right media joining him), Breitbart took away and obliterated the most deplorable and powerful weapon the left has long held, the race card.
The leftist media and its pet administration now realize that one of their most powerful weapons has been destroyed and what is their response? To stifle free speech.
As a side note, Sherrod has it wrong about who “went after” her. Sherrod claims that Breitbart went after her, not the NAACP. The post on Big Government went after the NAACP to show their hypocrisy when it comes to race. The NAACP went after Sherrod in a desperate move to protect themselves. The administration and the NAACP made this story about her and the MSM followed:
We concur with US Agriculture Secretary Vilsack in accepting the resignation of Shirley Sherrod for her remarks at a local NAACP Freedom Fund banquet.
The reaction from many in the audience is disturbing. We will be looking into the behavior of NAACP representatives at this local event and take any appropriate action.
We thank those who brought this to our national office’s attention, as there are hundreds of local fundraising dinners each year.
She should direct her anger where it belongs.
