Opening Day was not the first time Obama has referred to Comiskey Park, the old home of the Chicago White Sox, as “Cominsky” Field, er, Park. Here he is with Bob Costas, reminiscing about the good old days of the Hawaii Islanders and, of course, his adopted home town team, the Chisox:

Clearly, there’s some weirdness going on here. He can’t name a single member of the Pale Hose, yet claims to be a fan? This is surely the equivalent of Sarah Palin’s famous blank look when she was asked during the campaign by Katie Couric to name the newspapers she read, over which the left could barely constrain its hilarity:

So what’s the cause of President’s clear inability to get the name of Comiskey Park right? It’s lucky for him no one’s asked him yet about Kekuhaupi’o Field House, and if he knows what and where that is, as anybody who went to high school in Honolulu would. The late Harry Kalas surely would have known. Maybe Costas should ask Obama about it, the next time, just for laughs.
