YAF’s Spencer Brown: Universities Lowering Grading Standards Hurts High Performers

Spencer Brown of the Young America’s Foundation appeared on SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Daily Thursday to discuss the ways in which universities have lowered standards for students in response to the ongoing Wuhan coronavirus pandemic. Brown points out that the changes hurt high performing students.

Spencer Brown, the spokesperson for the Young America’s Foundation, spoke with Breitbart News Editor-in-Chief Alex Marlow during Thursday’s Breitbart News Daily broadcast on SiriusXM to discuss the ways in which universities have responded to the ongoing Wuhan coronavirus pandemic.

“There have been different forms of trying to accommodate students or trying to give them the ability to pick from a menu the grade they want to earn for the semester. Some schools like Penn State where once the semester is over and they see how they’ve done, students are able to go in and change it,” Brown said. “The interesting thing is how this will affect high-performing students because now you get the same grade at Penn State whether you got an A, a B, or a C.”

“Now, students at Harvard now are demanding universal automatic passing grade for everyone regardless of the quality of the work or whether you even start or finish the work,” Brown added. “It has been interesting to see how universities are willing to go along with demands like those we see at Harvard or just institute this on their own.”

Brown mentioned that YAF is working to provide students with educational resources that they are not receiving from their liberal professors. “Just because courses are online doesn’t mean they are not the same leftist baloney we see on campus so we have been working to supplement and offer the alternative and sort of the more complete version of history through our online resources,” Brown continued.

Breitbart News has reported extensively on the measures that universities have taken to lower standards in response to the pandemic. Breitbart News reported this week that Harvard has adopted an “emergency” grading system that will grant a passing grade to all students.
