The owner of a Toronto sex doll brothel, who plans to open a second brothel in Houston this month — the first sex doll brothel in the United States — is fighting calls for regulation against his business.
KinkySdollS owner Yuval Gavriel praised the fact that there isn’t any regulation against sex doll brothels in the United States, expressing, “The States is a bigger market, and a healthier market, and God bless Trump.”
Despite his business being referred to as a brothel by the media and the public, Gavriel rejects the term, and claims his business is a “showroom” to test out dolls.
“I consulted with a lawyer and the lawyer said, ‘Listen, there are no rules to it, but if you are smart you don’t go out and say you are operating a brothel,'” Gavriel proclaimed, adding that his lawyer “went through all the laws and all of the regulations and currently there are no regulations for this kind of service.”
Some groups, however, are trying to shut the business down with calls for regulation, including the Campaign Against Sex Robots, and Elijah Rising — a religious group which claims sex dolls will train men to “become rapists.”
“Our biggest concern is that this sex brothel with robots is going to train men to become rapists,” the group declared. “What’s next? Is it child robots? Where’s the line? Where is the boundary?”
Despite Elijah Rising’s claims that child sex robots could be next, it was reported in March that Congress was moving to ban child sex dolls in the United States.
Gavriel also faces resistance from the Mayor of Houston, Sylvester Turner, who, according to the Guardian, said: “he’s not trying to be the ‘moral police’ but that this is not the type of business he wants opening in the city.”
The Mayor is reportedly reviewing ordinances to determine if the business can open.
Gavriel’s company KinkySdollS was featured in the news in August for publicly challenging another sex doll brothel’s claim to be the first of its kind in North America.
Aura Dolls, another company based in Toronto, Canada, claimed to be the “first known” sex doll brothel in North America, prompting a spat between the two companies.
“KinkySdollS is the first in North America we operate for over a year and we have every proof for that,” declared KinkySdollS, backing up their statement with an open offer for news outlets to “come and see an open location with dolls room washing station etc.”
