A man who uploaded the 2016 movie Deadpool to Facebook could face six months in prison, according to a report.

Over six million people reportedly watched the illegal copy of Deadpool uploaded by the man, 22-year-old Trevon Franklin, before he was arrested in June 2017.

According to Gizmodo, the sentencing position document declared that, “the government recommends the high-end sentence of six months’ imprisonment, to be followed by a one-year term of supervised release, and a mandatory special assessment of $100,” and claimed Franklin “flouted the law” in a “brazen and public manner,” by ignoring warnings and preparing to post more illegal copies of other movies.

The document also noted that despite comments informing Franklin that the post was illegal, Franklin “responded on Facebook by insisting he wouldn’t be punished.”

“I got the ultimate way out of this, yall might be surprised on how I won’t go to jail but just become more famous,” Franklin proclaimed in comments. “I’m just sitting back smoking out my bong laughing at these mfs who think they know what they talking I haven’t sold shit to anyone, or made copies.”

Franklin posted Deadpool to Facebook while the movie was still being shown in theaters. He was arrested more than a year after posting the movie.  As Breitbart News reported at the time, “the arrest came after a federal grand jury produced an indictment alleging he reproduced and distributed a copyrighted work; the decision was based on an investigation by the FBI. Assistant United States Attorneys Ryan White and Vicki Chou, of the Department of Justice’s Cyber and Intellectual Property Crimes Section will be the ones prosecuting the case against Franklin.”

Deadpool was one of the smash hits of early 2016, grossing $363 million at the U.S. box office.
