A lawsuit filed by former Google engineer James Damore claims that Google allowed an employee that identifies as a “yellow-scaled wingless dragonkin” give a talk on living as a “plural being.”
A recent class action lawsuit filed against Google by former software engineer James Damore has given insight into the inner-workings and PC culture of the Silicon Valley tech firm. It was discovered that Asian and Caucasian employees are not considered “diverse,” at the company and conservatives at Google are allegedly intimidated into silence. The latest revelation from the lawsuit is that Google allowed an employee that identifies as “a yellow-scaled wingless dragonkin” as well as an “expansive ornate building” to give a talk entitled “Living as a Plural Being” at a company event.
According to the lawsuit, Google hosts a number of internal mailing lists for employees with “alternative lifestyles” which allegedly include, “furries, polygamy, transgenderism, and plurality, for the purpose of discussing sexual topics.” The lawsuit states that “the only lifestyle that seems to not be openly discussed on Google’s internal forums is traditional heterosexual monogamy.”
While presentations on living as a “plural being,” where identifying as an “expansive ornate building” is considered acceptable, Human Resources reprimanded an individual who posted a mildly conservative opinion on parenting to the internal Google message boards. The message read, “If I had a child, I would teach him/her traditional gender roles and patriarchy from a very young age. That’s the hardest thing to fix later, and our degenerate society constantly pushes the wrong message.”
Google HR responded with the following:
We did not find that this post, on its face, violated any of Google’s policies, but your choice of words could suggest that you were advocating for a system in which men work outside the home and women do not, or that you were advocating for rigid adherence to gender identity at birth. We trust that neither is what you intended to say. We are providing you with this feedback so that you can better understand how some Googlers interpreted your statements, and so that you are better equipped to ensure that Google is a place in which all Googlers are able to reach their full potential.
It seems that Google believes that you can identify as a “yellow-scaled wingless dragonkin” or an “expansive ornate building” (or both), but believing that gender is tied to the sex you were born as is unacceptable. This appears to be another example of how Google attempts to stifle and shut down perfectly reasonable, conservative opinions at Google.
